July 19 – Suggested deadline for masters’ thesis and doctoral dissertation oral defenses

July 19 – Deadline to register with GPD for MS Exit Exam or MS Project Presentation

August 2 – Deadline for hard-copy submission of committee-approved masters’ theses and doctoral dissertations to the College of Sciences for review

August 9 – Deadline for MS Exit Exams and MS Project Presentations.

August 23 – Deadline for electronic submission of masters’ theses and doctoral dissertations to ProQuest for August 2019 graduates

Spring 2019 Thesis/Dissertation Deadlines

May 10 – Deadline for electronic submission of masters’ theses to ProQuest for May 2019 graduates

April 29 – Deadline for electronic submission of doctoral dissertations to ProQuest for May 2019 graduates

April 19 – Deadline for hard-copy submission of committee-approved masters’ theses to the College of Sciences for review

April 8 – Deadline for hard-copy submission of committee-approved doctoral dissertations to the College of Sciences for review

March 25 – Suggested deadline for masters’ thesis and doctoral dissertation oral defenses

Fall 2018 Thesis/Dissertation Deadlines

Note: There are different (earlier) deadlines for those planning to participate in the University Graduation Ceremony.

December 16 (December 7 – ceremony)  – Deadline for electronic submission of masters’ theses and doctoral dissertations to ProQuest for December 2018 graduates

November 26 (November 16 – ceremony) – Deadline for hard-copy submission of committee-approved masters’ theses and doctoral dissertations to the College of Sciences for review

November 12 (November 2 – ceremony) – Suggested deadline for masters’ thesis and doctoral dissertation oral defenses

Here’s the process for review by the College of Sciences:

  • The Thesis/Dissertation is submitted hardcopy either single or double sided print along with the M2/M3 or D3/D5 signed forms to the Dean’s Office (OCNPS room 143). Include the journal guide if required and a completed sign in sheet (active ODU email address and the most used email address with a good contact phone number).
  • Electronic submissions are accepted if the student is out of the area and cannot present the initial hard copy for review.
  • Once the review has been completed/approved by the Dean’s Office, the student must follow the instructions to upload to ProQuest,
    per the procedures found on page 4 of the ODU Guide, follow the steps found on page 13, to submit the manuscript to ProQuest.
